My first 1st Gaia drawing

This is my first drawing of me with my pet "Gwee the Dragon". Gwee the Dragon, which can be found in the market place, was in the August 2006" Thank you letter" that I bought in the market place for Gaia Gold. Thank you letters are sent to members that contribute $2.50 to the site which they use to keep everything going. The site is free and contributions are totally voluntary. Items you get in the "thank you letters" are available for one month only. So the only way to get them is through the market lace or by trading with other members.

This was before I went to the salon and changed my hair. The hairstyle was my original choice when I first created my avatar. The outfit is not available at the Gaian shops. This drawing was done with "Sharpie" colored markers and Prismacolors' "Verithin" pencil colors on paper in a sketch book. Let's see how much I improve over time as we shall we.

This is a rather large file. This is a scan of a painting which I recovered from my Katrina Flooded residence over the weekend. It is a Watercolor Painting on Clayboard - The Scene is a pool room/game. The painting drawn onto the clayboard using water color pencil and the image was then painted in using water. Clayboard is a clay sized substance a lot like plaster of Paris which is coated on top of a wooden or other hard backing material. Since the color absorbs into the clay the top layer can be cleaned leaving the detail. Some of the actual color was removed from the edges of the painting from the water which reached it. This painting was originally hanging over the door frame when the storm hit. It was found on the floor under sheet rock that had fallen from the ceilings. It was still in the frame which had water damage. The painting being a very smooth surface was mounted close to the glass which did not break. The clayboard had been inserted snugly into a foam core board to hold it close to the glass. I believe that is what helped keep the water from doing major damage or seeping into the actual clay surface.

This image is stored as a jpg file and is 19kb before uploading. The original Scan, as I recall was taken at extremely high resolution and was over 300mb. After a series of processes the image was reduced to the much smaller size.

The drawing was done with \'Gel Ink\" which I am quite fond of. Being a rather new item in the art mediums art done in gel ink hasn\'t received the credit it deserves. So I will post some of these and hope you like them.

Remember, if you are already on my friend list at Meet the Artist at Yahoo 360, you can set a version of ths drawing as cell phone wallpaper.

This is a permanent water color which is very much like a stain, done on a canvas board. The canvas comes pre-primed (gesso) over a heavy cardboard backing. In this case the cardboard backing was removed because it was totally ruined. The frame was also very damaged. This painting had been hanging high on the wall at the time of the hurricane. Since this was a permanent watercolor the image was not removed by the water even though it was covered with ...let's call it "mud." We don't really want to think about what the mud was... it was "flood mud." This is one of what I call my whirlwind series. Being one of the earlier of the series it has the basic whirlwind. Later pictures in this series have had the whirlwinds in the back ground of the main images.

Make sure to get your drivers from your cell phone manufacturer or an authorized dealer.
Warning: Do not get your driver from a site that says "we'll give you a driver if you upload a driver". Uploading a driver is in most cases a direct violation of your end user agreements. Those who request this know this and don't care. But, once they have the software they can edit it and pass out drivers with viruses and worms. Know who you are dealing with whenever you install a driver. If you can't afford the driver just wait.

You can also upload your pictures saved to your yahoo photo albums to your cell phone without a driver. And there are many places to get stuff for your phone online for free.

But, look into your cell phone manufacturer's site and see what is available for your phone model. Also you can save about 15 dollars if you buy an assortment of different sized blue tooth adapters for your cables for about $5 and up depending on where you shop. Chances are that each time you need a special cable for a device someone is willing to sell you the cable for 19.99 - You don't want to go that route. Buy the cable adapter, and the money you save on cables you can use to get software.

Sometimes you just have to delete a friend because of their bulletins. The user was an educated person that had a simple page with pictures of family and friends and vacations. The bulletins, however, were all links to gift cards, ring tones, dating sites, porn sites, page trackers and Oh Yeah...FAKE MYSPACE Login Pages. Well, if you post bulletins that say meet hot chicks with links to porn and put me in your top spots, Then I probably am going to delete you anyway from my friends list.. But attempting to steal people's passwords is a ZERO Tolerance issue.

With the recent rash of bulletin hijackings it is possible that the posts were not made by that user. Then again the person who actually does this would lie if you asked them...wouldn't they? If the poster is innocent then their page won't get deleted and they will learn to look for "bulletins I posted" in the menu to make sure that no fake bulletins are being posted. And if that is the case they can re invite me as friends when the problem is cleared up. But it doesn't look good if the bulletins you claimed to post are spam and the one you claim you didn't post is a fake login page..

Additionally, be responsible if you post a link you got from somewhere test the links in your bulletin post after you submit it. Be the first to know where your links really go, especially if you choose the ever poplar feature, post this to bulletin. Also use a unique password at myspace that you don't use on other sites. Unscrupulous persons who have login sites may take the chance that you use the same passwords and email at myspace. They can easily generate a program that tries the password and email combinations that thy have collected to attempt to login at myspace or your email accounts.

Looking north at 5 Points in El Paso, Texas You can clearly see mountains. In a car, on city streets, you can reach those foothills in 5 minutes, if you know the route. On the way you will see more and more houses built into the side of the mountain partially. So the Route is important because ther is private property at the base of the mountain. On foot you can hike there in about 30 minutes if you are into walking uphill. This is very much in town to the right of this photo are banking, a Walgreens, restaurants, auto supply stores and many other establishments. There is green vegetation growing on the mountains, but most of it is cactus varieties. So, to climb the smaller hills is a bit intimidating, unless you are sure footed. The concept of recovering from a slip is huge if you fall on stickers. On this particular mountain patch there are what looks like large radio antenna, which is exceedingly important in mountainous areas.

Since sign up date on 03/05/06 to 10/24/06 There have been over 10 thousand visitors to this account profile and blog for debraford123. This is more than I expected in a little over 7 months. I want to thank all the visitors, especially those who return again and again. Even though I will be spending more time on my personal website in the future, I will continue to post and update my profile and blog for the wonderful friends which have been extremely nice. And, let me add that though we may make noise when problems arise, there are far more pleasant experiences at myspace than ugly ones. There have been many improvements and the clean up efforts are very much appreciated by many users who are making quality - non offensive pages that can be viewable by the general public. "This is a typical house on Montana St in El Paso. Many of the houses on the street between Downtown area and 5 points are Law offices, Realtors, Restaurants, and Insurance agents. There are other businesses and private homes intermixed in the area. There are also several homes on the streets nearby that are subdivided into multi family dwellings, in these expansive homes. The evergreen tree seen in the picture is a favorite choice in the area to adorn the landscape. These trees grow extremely well in this area and some reach to amazing heights." - debraford123

Foliage thrives in the dessert when properly tended to. Many of the plants like the palm trees in the photo are not native of the region, but manage to survive. The soil content is very mineral rich. Top soil however is more of a fine dust rather than organic matter. If you really want top soil you have to do the same thing you do with houseplants. Buy dirt.

The "active desktop recovery feature that comes with Windows XP doesn't work - but - the solution is very simple.

During game play of Kenn's Adventures your system may shut down.

Upon restarting A message appeared on my desktop and all my theme settings were gone.

Unfortunately, if you click the "button"to restore the screen - you get a notice telling you that Internet Explorer cannot run the scripts on it's own application. Selecting yes to continue running scripts on the message box does NOT Work.

Close all files before trying this demo.
No files were damaged but open applications like notepads and graphic programs were closed without saving information.

Programs with auto retrieve and periodic saves like Open Office can restore any closed files

The solution is to right click on your desktop. Select properties. Select the themes tab. Pick a different theme from your list. Click apply. The desktop message page goes away. Reselect your
current theme. Click Apply. Wahlah!! you have your desktop back.

This image on this page shows the simplest way to recover the desktop since the built in fix does not work. It gives you an idea of what the problem would look like on your system.

This is a very rare problem. It occurred while testing the demo for Kenny's Adventures which is otherwise an excellent game outside of the fact that it shut down my computer.

Weather has been added to the site The first week of August 2006. The old method of importing weather feeds has been discontinued due to the slow loading of the pages with that method.

Three main weather pages have been added.

Local Forecast for your city can be obtained by typing your city name in the prompt box at the top of the weather section. The initial page is centered on El Paso, Texas for warnings and forcasts. While many cities in the U.S. are having temperatures near 100 degrees, El Paso, Texas which is familiar with higher temperatures is cooler than normal. Monsoonal thunderstorms. Green Elementary School recorded 7.75 inches on Tuesday.
The Rio Grand reached it's highest recorded levels since the late 50's. The river's levees being 11-12 feet high recorded surge flood wave at 9.3 feet on Tuesday. The last week of two weeks have exceeded the normal annual precipitation rate on several occasions in a single day.

Street flooding submerged cars at the intersection of Pasiano and Executive Center. Boaters were photographed along Gateway West. Gateway was closed between Copia and downtown. A truck was lifted by flood waters and toppled on it's side behind West Side Flower shop. Pebbles rocks and mud washed onto roads and highways.

Sections of roads crumbled on North Desert Boulevard as the ground was eroded by rushing waters flowing out of the overflowing arroyos in West El Paso.

Mudslide caused street closings in Central El Paso Tue at Alabama St. near Fort Blvd. North Mesa was closed in 3 places because of sinkholes at Sunland Park Drive, Thunderbird and near Alto Mesa.

The information on the chart was obtained from local news sources, email alerts, and weather information which originates at NOAA.

This image was stored as a 16 color bitmap reducing the size of the image from 7mb to a 520kb (bmp) image. Upon uploading to flickr the image was converted to a jpg image and stored. It was created using very basic tools found in most simple image editor software programs.

Art_Drawing_Pencil - sketch "Marla's Acupuncture Points" - by Debra Ford

It was drawn into a sketchbook in 2000. As part of personal exercises for the effects of shadows shadings and fine line details using the "H Series" pencils, these drawings were done as "practice sketches" for personal growth as an artist. This was a hard lead sketch using leads varying from 2H to 9H ( 7h in this case) and the "F" pencil. The lower numbers produce a thicker and darker line. The higher numbers in the "H" series produce a lighter line and very fine lines may be produced when properly sharpened.

This subject was chosen because the photograph in the magazine article had nice shadow elements making it easier to do a pencil drawing. It is a general policy of the artist "not to draw real people." So people were done as sketches in personal books rather than as individual pieces of art.

The drawing was done partially in New Orleans and partially in Houston while traveling in the year 2000

This is a shot to show greater detail. Remember these are all degraded images due to the series of capture methods used. The original scan was made at 600x600 dots per inch in 2000 of an area 11"x14" (17) and then printed to an 8.5"x11" page. All images on this page are from recent rescans of the printed images at 300X300 or 256x256 . The lower is from an enlarged area of the "re-scan" done in 2006 (from the private art & print collection of RLP)all screen shots were on this page were imported into mspaint for basic editing and annotation.

This is a "screen shot" of the greyscale scan to more closely mimic the original pencil shadings. The reflective nature of the gel ink affected the entire image during capture/ scanning. The pink hues in the color image is a combination of this effect and printer inks cartridges being low on ink ( as was the case during the original print session in 2006)

The stripe is what happens when you spent way less than you should have for your replacement scanner.

This diagram is edited from various screen shots of a fake email claiming to be from Paypal in order to obtain passwords. Included are the things to look for and shots from the counterfeit sites. Tips on protecting yourself and reporting similar instances.

Hover over the link in the email and copy shortcut paste it in the browser address bar look at the link and see if it matches the site.

Even when the URL address is shown make sure the version of the link shown is the same as the link in the shortcut. in your email. It is very easy for someone to place a different address in a link than what is shown even if the link looks like an address.

When receiving a notice telling you to protect your account. Log into your account the way you normally do. If there is a problem with your account the main site will instruct you what to do. Be careful of lures, because the unscrupulous will use copyright infringement and copy as much as possible to make a site look authentic.

In this case the counterfeiters left some original links to the actual Paypal site in other parts of the "Fake email" so that it make it difficult for you to recognize the email as a fraud.

By comparing your full headers in the email to the first emails you received when opening an account you can compare and see very many differences in the information.

Make sure mail is from your actual account host site before adding new addresses to your address book.

Do not set your mail accounts to automatically save every address you send mail to. Some con-artist will send you one thing from a address and request you to reply by mail. Once you have replied, they take the chance that they have made it to your address book and start sending spam which no longer gets filtered if you have added them. Though it may seem quicker to set everything to automatic, it saves you time and reduces problems in the long run.

This particular case takes you to a php login page buried under a personal business site registered under the a domain showing "under construction."

Just hitting the spam key will place the sender into a very long list of spammers and the emails still go out for quite some time. By going to the original - Real site and finding their procedures on reporting fake emails you help more. Big companies and small companies do not want to be counterfeited. Send in the report to the people who would like to really stop this and chances are a little better of stopping the fraud. If you receive fake emails you are not the only one.

Con men are sometimes able to get away with sophisticated looking scams because they actually work for the company that they copy or else they are real familiar with the company because they have accounts there and know what you expect to see or find. If that is the case then the main site can easily find matching IP Addresses and identify the source.

Remember, your tax dollars have spent money forming commities of people who have made laws to stop this behavior. Do your part and from time to time do a bit more than just hitting the spam button. It always feels worse if it's your password that got stolen. Help to discourage such behavior.

Blackouts darken, roast New York - 23,000 remain without power for a fifth day

All Across the Nation Record temperatures are being reported.

As Temperatures reached 100 degrees tens of thousands of New Yorkers remain without power for a 5th day. Blackouts started Monday in Queens neighborhoods. Two LaGuardia Airport terminals lost power Monday night & Tuesday. Rikers Island city jail facility has operated on backup generators. The Power company for the NY Area is Con Edison.

Notice of a site using fake bulletins on other peoples accounts. Information on checking your account periodically and the url to report similar occurrences or your myspace accounts can be found on the chart. Fortunately, the owners of the affected account did post both bulletins and blog to report the "bug" or what is actually account hacking. This is a screen shot from the bulletin received from my friends at my space www.myspace.com/lansdowne

It is important to periodically visit your account because those looking to use your account for fake bulletins could more easily get away with it if you don't visit often. Since the bulletins only stay in the system for 10 days, if you show as an account that hasn't logged in for months you could be easy target. Also, many times when you log in and only go to your home page without actually visiting your profile, you would not be aware if your actual profile page has been compromised. remember to visit your profile also, not just your friend's profile pages.

Defend your Myspace. It's one thing to fix the problem, but reporting it helps prevent it from happening again.

JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israeli forces struck Beirut's international airport for the second time Thursday, hitting fuel tanks that exploded into fireballs.

Lebanese soldiers stand guard near a destroyed highway on the main entrance to Sidon, Lebanon.

The attack came soon after two rockets struck the northern Israeli port of Haifa on a day of spiraling violence and deepening crisis.

Israel Defense Forces said the Haifa rockets came from Lebanon and blamed Hezbollah, whose guerrillas abducted two soldiers and killed eight others one day ealier.

This is one of the 3 levee breaches that were hardly mentioned in the entire news watch for the New Orleans Area after Katrina. It was known that this levee was breached the night that Katrina hit the area in August 2005. The breach caused leveling and displacement of many homes immediately. However, mention of a breach was not publicized widely until the 17th Street canal breech threatened homes in more affluent areas. Attempted repair to the breaches in this area were done after the 17th street canal was secured. This information was reported from a satellite newsroom in Baton Rouge from the campus of LSU and was received as an online newscast to outside area since there were no TV stations or TVs operational in the New Orleans area during the storm. 1)Shortened version of the word "another"It actuality is a shortened version of "another" - which is used by many people, even those who practice using grammatical correctness. It occurs naturally when the person is speaking too fast, and the sound of the letter "a" comes across as: an out going breath of air, or at a much lower octave than usual; therefore sounding absent. To write, "nother" rather than "another" is actual a "written vocalization" to emphasize haste, or pertinence, which otherwise, needs an entire phrase or sentence to drive the point home. However, the colloquial frequency of the usage of "nother" slowly got carried into a variety of word groupings. As the letter "a" is phonetically an out going breath at a certain octave, a rapid speech makes the "a" inaudible as anything except for the breath. (likewise the letter e is an incoming breath at a different octave).It most frequently is found at the beginning of a sentence or directly after the word "And" as the second word of the sentence. By making the habit of trying to always say "and" before the word "another", it often corrects the problem in hurried speech. In relaxed or hurried speech, when there is failure to articulate the "d" sound in the word, then the phrase "And another" (when rushed) becomes "An nother" which still sounds like "another" to the listener. This does not always work, the outcome heard is often "an_another" or "ananother" when heard, which is worse than just saying "nother." It is quite possible that "another" is a word that was originally derived from the phrase "and other" as a transition in relaxed speech.2)"Nother" a variation of "other." This sketch is actual just the corner border of a larger sketch done in 2000. As the sketchbook was started near the turn of the century there are many calendar themed drawings in the collection. The larger Drawing in this case is a dragon with the Chinese Calender years.

Though the effects were accidental It is remarkably similar to a relatively famous computer generated image, that I will post here as a followup. Even without the comparison this is a noteworthy image.

This is a very nice treatment of capturing the "Blue Moon Flower." This picture is most likely taken in the morning facing the the east. As moon flowers close during the day and are rarely visible in full sun light. The thicket behind this particular group of flowers provides adequate shade to allow the flowers to remain open. As a vine plant that is particularly fond of fences and narrow trunked trees, the flowers on the eastward facing side of the fence would be already closed for the day.
